‘Jupiter Ascending’ Delayed By Seven Months!

Well this is strange. In an unusual turn of events, Warner Bros. have decided to move the Wachowski Siblings’ sci-fi adventure epic, JUPITER ASCENDING from July 18, 2014 all the way back to February 6, 2015. The delay comes as a result of extensive special effects work that still needs to be done, only seven weeks before opening, with as much as 2,000 VFX shots delaying the project.

To start with, JUPITER ASCENDING, which we are all greatly anticipating and which would most likely take the top-slot in the box office come opening weekend, would have gone against the likes of PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE, THE PURGE: ANARCHY, SEX TAPE and WISH I WAS HERE.

However, because of the move, Warner Bros. are now pitting the Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis team-up against the likes of MORTDECAI, the Johnny Depp lead action-comedy, Liam Neeson’s RUN ALL NIGHT and the Jeff Bridges fantasy-film SEVENTH SON. If anything, Warner Bros. seems to have made it even harder for themselves come release date with this move, considering the fiercer line-up, in terms of both talent and genre.

Here’s the plot synopsis for the film (if it ever gets released):

Jupiter Jones was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine, a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along – her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

The film also stars (unless more unexpected events occur in before release) Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, James D’Arcy, Doona Bae, Terry Gilliam and Tuppence Middleton and is now set for release come February 6, 2015.
