Everybody’s favourite loveable idiots Matthew, Ben and Tom return to our screens tonight with series two of Badults, and the lads in the BBC Three get up to more hijinks than ever.
In the opening episode it’s the start of the World Cup season, and the trio get together to keep up with their tradition of watching the match in their flat (with Tom taking a few dramatic measures to make sure their tradition is complete!). It all goes wrong of course, and the three of them (well we say three…it will make sense when you watch it!) find themselves trying to find a place to watch it. They go everywhere, to the local pub where their hard nut landlord (Bottom’s Steven O’Donnell) watches the game, to Matthew’s work where his patriotic Scottish boss has put a ban on anything World Cup related. The show also features amazing cameos, including football’s very own Robbie Savage in his acting debut.
While Badults hasn’t changed it’s ways where it comes to its themes, it seems to have really found its footing as we head into series two…you get a sense that they know what works for them now and they’re sticking by their guns. Despite the fact it is a Word Cup themed episode you don’t have to be a football fan to appreciate the first episode (in fact the football related gags are some of the highlights of this episode!). It all comes down to the fact that if you love a good ol’ fashioned joke with a talented cast then tune into BBC Three tonight…you won’t regret it!
Badults airs on BBC Three tonight at 10pm. Check out our interview with Badults cast member Matthew Crosby here
