Tom Hardy To Star Opposite DiCaprio in ‘The Revenant’?

It seems as if Tom Hardy is in ‘serious talks’ to join Leonardo DiCaprio in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s (BABEL, 21 GRAMS and this year’s BIRDMAN) upcoming new film, THE REVENANT.

The film’s plot follows, and I gotta say, I’m getting a real TRUE GRIT/THE GREY vibe from it!

A 19th-century fur trapper by the name of Hugh Glass, is set out on a path of vengeance after he gets brutally mauled by a grizzly bear and is left for dead by his companions.

The premise isn’t the most original of ideas, and Inarritu wrote the script basing it off of The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge by Michael Punke, but we’ve seen DiCaprio play the emotional, darker roles before with great success. If Hardy does indeed come on board, it’ll be a welcome pairing over here at THN since their performance together in INCEPTION, and his role will most likely be that of one of the companions that leave DiCaprio’s character in the lurch.

Inarritu’s thriller is set to begin filming this September.

THE REVENANT is directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. No additional cast is currently attached to the project and no release date is planned as of yet. It is expected to hit the silver screen in mid-2015.
