Found footage is so bloody great. I just love it. And finally it is even hitting the family film genre with exciting E.T. inspired flick EARTH TO ECHO. This exciting trailer shows the set-up of a group of kids who discover some kind of extraterrestrial robotic life form. As is the fashion these days, the kids document the entire event on cameras which are probably built into their shoes with the way technology is going. This overcomes the first hurdle of found footage features, because let’s face it, this is something we would all document.
After discovering a robot named Echo, the friends must find a way to help Echo return home. It may sound like a mix of E.T., CHRONICLE and SUPER 8, which it probably is, but there is enough in this trailer to convince me I wanna see it. Best part being the dismantlement of a truck before reassembling it, skillfully avoiding a head on collision. Overall this looks like a fun filled adventure, although I’m not sure how convincing the child stars will be for the duration of the film.
EARTH TO ECHO is released in the US on 2nd July and in the UK on 25th July. It stars Teo Halm, Astro, Reese Hartwig, and Ella Wahlestedt.
