Cirque du Soleil president-CEO Daniel Lamarre has announced that legendary director James Cameron will be joining forces with the famous acrobatic company to produce an AVATAR inspired show.
This will be the first show the company will produce based on a film and it is expected to debut in late 2015. This will tie in nicely to the release of Cameron’s sequel to the hit film which is set to hit cinemas in December 2016. We are told that 20th Century Fox who produce the films will also be partnering the shows.
Cameron has previously worked with Cirque as one of the producers of their 3D documentary CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: WORLDS AWAY. Cameron mentioned his love of the company in this statement:
“Over the years, I have discovered the extraordinary talents and imaginations of both the artists and the creative forces behind Cirque du Soleil. I know we share the common goal of bringing audiences to another level of entertainment experiences. I look forward to doing just that on this project.”
2oth Century Fox chairman and CEO Jim Gianonpolus also added:
As Jim Cameron prepares to take us to even greater heights with three new AVATAR films, we’re thrilled with the innovative experience he’s developing in this groundbreaking agreement with Cirque du Soleil.”
Keep checking back for more updates on this exciting new show.
