It seems that after the unfortunate loss of Edgar Wright‘s contribution to ANT-MAN, Marvel have suffered another unexpected departure (albeit on a far less catastrophic level).
With Marvel and Netflix ready to film their 13 part Daredevil series in New York later this summer, production is ramping up on the highly anticipated television show. Unfortunately however, Drew Goddard (CABIN IN THE WOODS) has had to step down from his role as showrunner due to his commitments on Sony’s upcoming SPIDER-MAN spin-off film THE SINISTER SIX. While Goddard will remain on as an executive producer for Daredevil after writing the first two episodes, his successor has already been announced by Marvel. Steven S. DeKnight will be taking over as showrunner on Daredevil, and is expected to begin work on the series immediately. DeKnight already has a long list of impressive television credits to his name, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Smallville. The well known writer may be most renowned however, for creating, producing and writing the incredibly successful Spartacus series for the Starz network. The vast filmography of DeKnight should be more than enough to fill fans and sceptics with confidence that Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil is in very capable hands.
How do you feel about this news? are you happy that DeKnight is taking over from Goddard? Let us know in the comments section
