‘Frozen’ Refuses To ‘Let It Go’ At The Box Office!

Anna Hans

It may have been released back in November 2013 in the US, but FROZEN continues to be raking in cash at the worldwide box office. It was only released in big Asian markets such as China and Japan in February and March 2014 respectively, and so the total gross continues to inflate. In fact, Disney’s return to form has just pushed IRON MAN 3 out of the top 5 grossing films in the world ever!!! As of writing, FROZEN has made $1.219 billion, putting it above IRON MAN 3’s $1.215 billion.

It’s looking doubtful that FROZEN will catch up with fourth place, HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – PART 2, which has a gross of $1.341 billion, but as it can easily claim its ‘Highest Grossing Animated Film Of All Time’ position, I doubt it’s too upset. Unless of course you count the number one grossing film, AVATAR.

Disney isn’t one to churn out sequels to its animated films, unless it’s years later on home entertainment platforms, but perhaps those figures will change some minds. The film is already on its way to Broadway as a musical and the character of Elsa has been confirmed as appearing in ABC’s hit show, Once Upon A Time, which unites many popular Disney characters in live-action form.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
