HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 is the big summer animation this year, for me anyway, and after watching the first five minutes (which you can do by clicking here) I’m sure you’ll also be won over instantly . The surprise hit of 2010 was something of a different offering, with it’s sense of adventure and originality up there for all to see.
This featurette sees director Dean DeBlois talking about this sequel and how he feels the 3D format contributes to the audience experience and the overall success of his film. I can take or leave 3D but every now and then it really works, take LIFE OF PI, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 or TOY STORY 3 for just a few examples. If you get it right, you can use and enable that format to give the storytelling an extra dimension.
I quite love the fact this is currently showing at the Cannes Film Festival in the Out of Competition section. Watch this short featurette below:
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 is directed by Dean DeBlois and co-stars the voice talents of Kristen Wiig, Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler, Djimon Hounsou, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and T.J. Miller. It swoops into the USA on June 13th in the UK on June 27th.
Dan loves writing, film, music and photography. Originally from Devon, he did London for 4 years and now resides in Exeter. He also has a mild obsession with squirrels and cake. The latter being more of a hobby. Favourite movies include HIGH FIDELITY, ALMOST FAMOUS, ROXANNE, GOOD WILL HUNTING, JURASSIC PARK, too many Steve Martin films and Nolan's BATMAN universe.
