Dave Grohl To Direct Foo Fighters Series For HBO

Sound-City-Dave-Grohl

Alternative rock’s darling, Dave Grohl looks set to flex his directorial muscles once more. Grohl will be heading up a new HBO series that follows the making of his band, Foo Fighters’ eighth album.

This will be a sophomore effort for Grohl. 2013 saw him directing SOUND CITY, a documentary charting the history of the recording studio that brought us albums from Fleetwood Mac, Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails – and of course Nirvana, before it closed its doors.

And if you’re worried that the new series, as yet untitled, sounds a bit like an ego boost (remember that extended Grohl, McCartney, Reznor and Nicks jamming session that ruined the end of SOUND CITY?), then rest assured. It’ll also focus on eight different US cities, exploring their musical heritage. At the moment it looks like Chicago, Austin, Nashville, LA, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC (some Fugazi please?) and NYC are on the map.

No air date as of yet – but it’ll surely tie in with the new album release this autumn.
