Who would have thought that a man who died hundreds of years ago would still be inspiring adaptations of his work in this millennium. Shakespeare has had numerous of his works adapted for television and film, some straying out of the box like The Taming of the Shrew modernisation 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU whilst others stick to source material much more closely.
The newest venture to follow the classic adaptation formula is Justin Kurzel’s MACBETH. As is to be expected from a Shakespeare movie the cast are all heavy-weight actors known for their ability to hold an audience’s attention. At the top of the cast is Michael Fassbender who will bring the power-mad but conflicted Macbeth with Marion Cotillard at his side as the dark and manipulative Lady Macbeth, Southcliffe‘s Sean Harris and DEAD MAN’S SHOES star Paddy Considine also star.
The film which has now finished production is looking to be snapped up during this weeks Cannes festival. To help sweeten the pot for potential investors two one-sheet poster images have been released focussing on the devious duo at the center of the story Macbeth and his Lady.
A release has not been set for the film yet but once it’s snapped up this week it won’t be long until a date is given.
