Obviously when you hear Michael Fassbender’s name these days you’re already hopeful for something great but when you add him alongside a very exciting director, things get even more interesting. The announcement that Fassbender is in talks to join Derek Cianfrance, who gave us THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES and BLUE VALENTINE, in his new project LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS is very exciting and perks the possible movie outcome intrigue for all of us.
The film would be set on an island off the coast of Western Australia after World War I, it’s based on the novel by M.L. Stedman and focuses around a lighthouse keeper and his wife. One day, they find a 2-month-old girl and a dead body in a rowboat but decide to raise the baby as their own, after that opening then you already feel there’s a lot that could happen. If you’ve felt the intensity and beauty of Cianfrance’s two aforementioned films then you’ll know how he really gets under the skin, and surely Fassbender would be perfect for such a role.
