We heard a couple of weeks ago that Gerard Butler had departed the 2015 remake of POINT BREAK over ‘creative differences’ and ‘scheduling conflicts,’ and with a start date on principal photography looming, we knew that director Ericson Core and the producers would want him replaced ASAP. Well, now it looks like they may have found their Bodhi in the form of ZERO DARK THIRTY actor Edgar Ramirez.

The announcement of Ramirez’s casting as the legendary Patrick Swayze character was made this morning by Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove.

They said: “We consider Edgar one of the finest actors in the world today and we are thrilled he will be creating a fresh new take on the iconic character of Bodhi.”

Ramirez has a couple of high-profile films coming up, including HANDS OF STONE opposite Robert De Niro and horror DELIVER US FROM EVIL opposite Eric Bana.

Shooting on the POINT BREAK remake kicks off this summer with Luke Bracey and Ray Winstone also starring.
