As with most Young Adult fiction novels, Veronica Roth’s DIVERGENT series is being adapted into a four-parter, similar to both the TWILIGHT and THE HUNGER GAMES franchises. With the story expanding, new cast members are needed to fill the roles, with Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer joining for INSURGENT, the second installment.
The story will continue to follow Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) as they escape the clutches of Jeanine (Kate Winslet), the powerful leader of the Erudite elite. With the Erudite looking to wipe them out once and for all, the pair must find out what Tris’ family sacrificed themselves for; what was it and why was it so important?
Spencer will play Johanna, a member of the Amity faction, co-starring alongside Miles Teller, Jai Courtney, Ben Lamb, Rich Graff and Mekhi Phifer, with Robert Schwentke (THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE) directing.
INSURGENT has a predicted release date of 20th March 2015, with ALLEGIANT – PART 1 set for 18th March 2016 and ALLEGIANT – PART 2 following on 24th March 2017.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
