Broadchurch fans, it’s time to start cheering – because it has been confirmed that David Tennant AND Olivia Colman will be returning for another series of the smash ITV1 drama. It has also been revealed that Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, and Arthur Darvill will reprise their roles.
The show, created by Chris Chibnall, follows the story of a small town who is brought to a standstill after the murder of a young school boy named Danny Latimer. The series averaged around 9 million viewers, and was the most viewed weekday drama since 2004. ITV’s director of drama Steve November did reveal that ITV are remaining ‘tight-lipped’ about the show. He said:
“We’re delighted Broadchurch is back in production, but we’re remaining tight-lipped about how the story develops. Suffice to say Chris has delivered as always and the scripts are just as exciting as the first series.”
Tennant will also be starring in the US reboot of the show, which will be named Gracepoint, but Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn will play Colman’s role of Detective Ellie Miller.
