Hot off of hits like PITCH PERFECT and BRIDESMAIDS, comedy actress Rebel Wilson is to get to take the lead in a planned remake of the classic Goldie Hawn movie PRIVATE BENJAMIN. The Wrap reports the news that the actress will play the title character, a newly married woman who signs up for the Army after the tragic death of her new husband.
According to the site, the remake is said to follow two women, a wealthy city girl and a redneck, who will be played by Wilson.
The original movie was directed by Howard Zieff and was released in 1980 to much acclaim, with Hawn bagging an Oscar nod for her performance.
Not sure about this, but we’re huge fans of Wilson here at THN, so we’ll have to wait and see what the actress can bring to the role. More news on the casting of the other lead as we get it.
