It’s been seven years since Matt Damon last played super spy Jason Bourne in the hugely popular series. But it seems he is open to playing him again if Paul Greengrass returns as director. Speaking to CNBC Damon said:
“I’ve always been open to it if Paul Greengrass is the director, we’ve just never been able to come up with a story… It felt like such a good way to end it last time. Having said that, I love that character. I’d love to see what happened to him.”
Paul Greengrass directed the recent hit CAPTAIN PHILLIPS which earned a massive six Acadamy Award nominations. Damon and Greengrass last worked together on GREEN ZONE in 2010. Since then Damon has starred in several hits such as TRUE GRIT, THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU and the award winning Liberace biopic BEHIND THE CANDELABRA.
All of the Bourne films are hugely popular but I think Damon returning would send the fans into overdrive. Damon joked that fans should submit all ideas to Universal. Fingers crossed they come up with something and Damon and Greengrass are available.
Meanwhile Universal announced last summer that Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross from THE BOURNE LEGACY is to be turned into a franchise.
