‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ Happening After All?

Eddie Murphy

Rumours about a fresh sequel to BEVERLY HILLS COP have been circulating for a few years, but now Paramount have bitten the bullet and announced that a fourth film will hit theatres on March 25th 2016. Eddie Murphy will return as Axel Foley and the oft-mooted Brett Ratner (RUSH HOUR) is lined up to direct.

A TV pilot was produced with Brandon T.Jackson (TROPIC THUNDER) starring in what was effectively SON OF BEVERLY HILLS COP, with Murphy putting in an appearance to wish his offspring well, but a series failed to materialize. The franchise has a patchy history, with BEVERLY HILLS COP 3 one of the most unusual entries in the canon, being wildly different in tone and story.

Murphy reportedly wanted BHC 4 to be his screen acting swansong, though whether this would still be the case remains to be seen. Does the world want to see an ageing Axel Foley motormouth his way through the white collar criminals of LA once again? Only box office receipts can answer that question.

The movie will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and written by Josh Appelbaum (Life On Mars) and Andre Nemec (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES).
