Things just keep getting better and better for Seth Meyers! It has been announced that he will take on hosting duties at this year Primetime Emmy Awards. While Meyers has been nominated for numerous Emmys, this will mark his debut as Emmy host, but has previously hosted such events as the ESPY Awards and the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner no less!
NBC’s Head of Alternative and Late Night Paul Telegdy had this to say about the news:
“Seth’s expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at SNL, as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on SNL and Late Night, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys.”
Meyers is known for being a cast member of Saturday Night Live, in which he also co-anchored and then went onto anchor their “Weekend Update” news segment. It hasn’t been until recently that Meyers has been catching the eye of the world, as he took over Jimmy Fallon’s hosting duties at NBC’s Late Night. He has also been named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People.
We couldn’t think of a better host…we can’t wait!
The 66th Primetime Emmys will take place on Monday, August 25.
