Felicity Jones In Talks To Star In ‘A Monster Calls’

Felicity

Felicity Jones has been one of the most successful British actors to break Hollywood in the past five years, with films such as CEMETARY JUNCTION, LIKE CRAZY and THE INVISIBLE WOMAN all displaying the gorgeous star’s incredible acting abilities.

After most recently appearing in Marc Webb’s AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 in a role foreshadowing exciting future prospects, the Brummie actress is reportedly in final negotiations to star in Juan Antonio Bayona’s A MONSTER CALLS. The film is based on the acclaimed 2011 fantasy novel of the same name by Patrick Ness (who will also write the film adaptation). A MONSTER CALLS revolves around a thirteen year old boy named Conor who suffers from extreme nightmares. Conor is ‘visited’ by a large tree shaped monster who promises to tell him three stories in exchange for his own. The many visitations from the monster result in Conor confronting his own feelings and emotional trauma gained from his mothers terminal illness and miserable school life.

Jones is reportedly finalising a deal to play Conor’s mother and article also mentions that Liam Neeson is the top contender for the role of the monster. The film sounds as if it could be a wonderful and uplifting children’s fantasy drama, not dissimilar to THE BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA. Juan Antonio Bayona has proven his talent for great visually interesting films with THE ORPHANAGE and THE IMPOSSIBLE (which lead to him landing the WORLD WAR Z sequel), so hopefully this should be quite a unique piece of entertainment.

A MONSTER CALLS will be released 14th October 2016 and you can check back with THN for more news of the film.
