It has only been four months since Matt Smith departed Doctor Who in the most recent episode, however the long hiatus between last years Christmas special and Peter Capaldi’s debut series is already heavily apparent for eager Whovians like myself. Luckily exciting interviews and small tidbits from previous and current cast members are making the wait seem ever-so-slightly shorter, before we are taken back into the TARDIS for more adventures with everyone’s favourite Time Lord.
We already know that Matt Smith will have a small voice cameo in the first episode of Peter Capaldi’s new series via a phone call to his former companion Clara Oswald. However Smith has now revealed that he would gladly return to the show for a future Anniversary, as David Tennant did last year for the 50th Anniversary special ‘The Day of The Doctor. Smith happily recalls his time on screen with Tennant before expressing interest in a potential return in a new interview from Wizard World Comic Con, which you can read below:
‘It was a real historic moment for me. I always look at David and go, ‘Oh my god. It’s Doctor Who!’’.
‘David is a great guy and a good friend. It was so fun. Doctors in the same room is just magic, isn’t it!’.
‘I’ll happily come back for another anniversary!’.
Next year is always the ten year anniversary of the shows post-millennium return, so would it be out of the question for Smith to make a re-appearance or would it be too soon since his exit?
Time will tell.
