Just yesterday Skydance officially confirmed that cameras have begun rolling on Alan Taylor’s upcoming TERMINATOR: GENESIS. With the project raising more than a few eyebrows for both fans and casual moviegoers, the fifth film in the TERMINATOR franchise has certainly been surrounded with a heavy amount of curiosity and concern.
Although we are still no closer to discovering anything in regards to TERMINATOR: GENESIS’ story, we do have the first set pictures of the Governator returning to his most iconic role. That’s right THE Terminator has joined the Louisiana set of the film, to reprise his role as an aged version of the famous T-800 that has both terrorised and saved Sarah Connor in James Cameron’s two original masterpieces. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the focal point of public interest in the upcoming sequel/reboot, as the only returning cast member from previous instalments in the franchise. As (arguably) the key component holding this un-necessary film together, it makes sense that the Austrian Oak has been given a substantial part in TERMINATOR: GENESIS as the main star of the production.
Check out the first images of an impressively bulky Schwarzenegger on the set of the time-hopping film below:
I can only speak for myself but personally Schwarzenegger is the only detractor from my otherwise understandable mixed reaction to the upcoming film. However I firmly believe that witnessing the SABOTAGE star make his glorious and belated return to the series (for the last time?), is more than enough to maintain both mine and the public interest. Nostalgia for James Cameron’s first two science fiction classics will easily keep TERMINATOR: GENESIS afloat until the film (hopefully) surprises us all. Until then we will just have to gaze upon these photos in anticipation of the first official image or teaser trailer for TERMINATOR: GENESIS.
TERMINATOR: GENESIS stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, Dayo Okeniyi and J.K. Simmons.
