HBO has been on a high the past few years with successes such as Game Of Thrones and they look set to continue bringing us more high quality TV as the channel has just renewed political comedy Veep and the semi-biopic Silicon Valley for a fourth and second season respectively.
Veep stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer, who becomes vice president (hence the name) but sadly finds that the job is completely the opposite to what she expected. The show was created by Armando Iaunnucci, best known on this side of the pond for bringing us IN THE LOOP.
Now, Silicon Valley differs oh so slightly and stars Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller and Zach Woods, It’s partially based on creator Mike Judge’s life as a Silicon Valley engineer in the late 80’s. However, both shows have a link through the comedy hit Seinfeld, as writer Alec Berg has collaborated with Judge on Silicon Valley, and as I’m sure we all know, Louis-Dreyfus starred as the hilarious Elaine for almost ten years.
