Enjoy Power Rangers-esque Spoof ‘Joshi Zu’ In Latest Trailer

It should be considered a crime that Yuichi Fukuda’s hilariously epic KID’S POLICE is still so hard to find in the west. The brilliant spoof of cop shows saw a police squad returned to their much younger bodies. Fortunately Fukuda is back with another feature that looks just as funny in the form of JOSHI ZU, a film that takes the likes of tokusatsu shows such as Super Sentai (edited into Power Rangers for Western audiences) and adds an extra level of ridiculousness. 5 women find themselves gathered to battle evil monsters.

As he did for KID’S POLICE, Fukuda seems to have flawlessly replicated the very subject he is lampooning and it looks as though he has once again extracted humour while also remaining faithful and good natured. I’m still yet to see Fukuda’s other spoof comedy, HENTAI KAMEN, in which a superhero derives power from wearing panties on his face, but the trailer for said film also captured the surreal and bonkers. Here’s hoping Fukuda gets a bigger following and may even tackle some western ideas so we can have decent spoofs once again.
