Will Ferrell & John C.Reilly To Be Our ‘Border Guards’

Ferrell and C Reilly

They burned rubber in TALLADEGA NIGHTS and had a gonad-based fight over a drum kit in STEP BROTHERS, now Will Ferrell and John C.Reilly are to reunite in a new immigration comedy from PEEP SHOW writer Jesse Armstrong.

BORDER GUARDS will see the pair sign up to protect the US from undesirables, only to find themselves stuck in Mexico, from which they must smuggle themselves back into the country with what Sony Pictures hopes will be hilarious consequences. Helming the mayhem will be regular collaborator Adam McKay.

While Ferrell’s choices land solidly in the “hit and miss” category, the chemistry he has with Reilly is undeniable, so the sparks are sure to fly, as I’m sure will the puke and nut-sacks. It will also be interesting to see how Armstrong fares in a Hollywood setting – well-established as a TV writer here in the UK, his feature credit on IN THE LOOP opened doors and his PEEP SHOW-infused mind should throw enough into the mix to keep it fresh.

Ferrell and Reilly could almost be peas in a pod, and although they are not related in this project I’d like to get my suggestion of Ron Perlman in as the boys’ Dad for any future team-ups. Who else do you think could be added to this prolific gene pool…?
