Tired of all the summer blockbusters heading your way? Probably not, as there are some great ones this year. But, you may still find some time to enjoy the little folks, including this quaint little spin on the rom-com genre, OBVIOUS CHILD. It follows a stand-up comedian in the middle of major life changes who gets pregnant after a one night stand. Starring former SNL cast member Jenny Slate as Donna, she must wrestle with her new found predicament as well as telling the father about her plans for an abortion.
Although stated enough in the trailer, it does look refreshingly honest with the kind of gentle laughs that don’t outweigh the more dramatic moments. It’s already built quite the momentum from appearances at a number of film festivals, and will be getting a wider release this summer in the US.
OBVIOUS CHILD is to be released on 6th June 2014. It stars Jenny Slate, Jake Lacy, Gaby Hoffman, Gabe Liedman, David Cross, and Richard Kind.
