It looks like the reboot of popular slasher franchise FRIDAY THE 13TH may have found its director in the shape of horror pro David Bruckner.
Bruckner already has genre films V/H/S and THE SIGNAL under his directorial belt, so if talks go according to plan he should be in prime position to bring Jason Voorhees (the monster who launched a thousand Halloween costumes) back to the big screen.
Of course, whether another reboot will be a worthwhile addition to the FRIDAY THE 13TH family or just a cash cow remains to be seen. After all, we’ve had one pretty pointless reboot already in 2009. There’s no word on the direction the project will take yet either, apart from the obvious machetes, hockey masks and lashings of blood. But it’s definitely all new and not a sequel to the 2009 reboot – although is it a reboot of the reboot? The mind boggles…
Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing the film for Platinum Dune and Paramount. It’s slated for a (you guessed it) Friday 13th March 2015 release.
So…are you ready to go down to Camp Crystal Lake, again?

Claire Joanne Huxham comes from the south-west, where the cider flows free and the air smells of manure. She teaches A-level English by day and fights crime by night. When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
