It has been reported that Helen Mirren is seeking out a role in TRUMBO, starring opposite Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston. Walter White, erm, Cranston has been attached to the project for a while, playing the lead role of Dalton Trumbo with Mirren said to be eyeing the role of Cleo, Trumbo’s wife.
With Jay Roach as director, TRUMBO tells the story of famed screenwriter and author, Dalton Trumbo. He was blacklisted after refusing to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1947. However, he kept on writing under several different aliases and went on to winning Academy Awards for his efforts, he won for both Irving Rapper’s THE BRAVE ONE and William Wyler’s ROMAN HOLIDAY.
Mirren’s most recent screen outing was in RED 2 and will soon return to the screen again in Lasse Hallström’s THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY, which is due to be released in September of this year.
Trumbo is in the early stages of production and there’s no release date set.
