UPDATED: Gunn Shares Two New ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Stills!

UPDATED: Adding onto the article – and excitment – below, James Gunn’s Instagram has given us another treat tonight in the shape of a High-Res Star-Lord! Check them both out below…

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is easily one of this summers most eagerly anticipated movies. Though the comics on which the story is based isn’t as well-known as the likes of Spiderman, Batman and Superman, movie fans around the globe can’t stop talking about it.

The film is directed by James Gunn of SLITHER fame and sees the director entrusted with one of Marvel’s odder properties. The titular Guardians are a mish-mash group which include and alien vixen assassin Gamora, a Han Solo-esque human Star Lord, a muscular alien with anger issues Drax, an alien tree Groot and a talking gun-toting raccoon Rocket. The plot of the film follows Chris Pratt’s Star Lord, or Peter Quill, as he finds himself in hot water after stealing a much coveted orb.

Starring alongside Pratt the rest of the Guardians are made up of Zoe Saldana who has swapped the blue for green, WWE wrestler Bautista, with Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel lending their vocals to Rocket and Groot. Benicio Del Toro, Lee Pace and Karen Gillan form the villains with Gillan committing heavily to the role of Nebula by shaving her head.

The trailer points to a strong vein of comedy and everything that we’ve been teased with so far points to something special. Today James Gunn shared another group still which sees Rocket take centre stage to show off his impressive arsenal. To ensure the raccoon was as life-like as possible Gunn sought out a real raccoon to use as a model, we were lucky enough to spend time with the same animal, (if you missed out article you can catch it here).

The image seems to be set during the Guardians prison break-out, with Rocket’s weapon coming in very handy, see the image for yourself below:

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is released worldwide on 1st August 2014.
