‘Gremlins’ Reboot Fast Tracked

GremlinsEvery year I watch GREMLINS. It’s usually around Christmas time and it’s usually a fun and memorable experience. So here’s hoping that the rumoured reboot/sequel from Warner Bros. will be just as timeless. Hitting the ripe old age of 30 this year, the Gremlins reappeared 24 years ago in GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH, which was more of a broad comedy and less of a horror/comedy mix that its predecessor had been. There’s still no real word on whether this will be a remake/reboot/sequel, but I’m hoping for a bit of each. A film that could work as a sequel to the originals as well as allowing new viewers to just jump straight in.

Original director Joe Dante was quite tepid about returning for the sequel, so we’re not sure if he’ll return this time around. He’s only made 2 films in the last decade with a greater focus on TV work. One thing’s for sure though and that’s the film won’t go ahead without the support of Executive Producer Steven Spielberg. All I know is that I really want the film to be set at Christmas and to have the devilish sense of humour from the first film.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
