It looks like a director has finally been found for the adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ Me Before You in the form of acclaimed theatre director Thea Sharrock. The book has proved incredibly successful, so it was no surprise when the powerful story was taken on for a big-screen adaption.
MGM have seen the potential in Sharrock’s impressive body of theatre directing (Equus, The Sunshine Boys, The Misanthrope, After The Dance) and have given her the go ahead to make this, her feature film debut.
The story looks at what happens when bumble-bee tights loving Lou takes on the job of caring for the curt Will, former bigshot who is now wheelchair-bound and has no desire to leave his bed. It’s an emotional and powerful story with tears shed and laughs uttered so now all that remains to be seen is which actors will take on the two lead roles.
Moyes wrote the first draft of the script and (500) DAYS OF SUMMER writers Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber did the most recent version.
We’ll bring you all the news of ME BEFORE YOU as we get it!
