It was only last summer that we heard the very sad news of James Gandolfini’s passing but we’re all very interested to see him back on the big screen for the final time, alongside Tom Hardy in THE DROP, formerly titled ANIMAL RESCUE.
Based on the short story by Dennis Lehane, you’ll know GONE BABY GONE and MYSTIC RIVER as some of his other work, it’s directed by Michaël R. Roskam who’s only previous feature was the compelling BULLHEAD. At a very basic level, we know the film is most definitely an underground crime-drama that’s centered around a lost pit bull that Tom Hardy’s character Bob Saginowski rescues, a wannabe scam artist, and a killing.
There’s no doubt it’ll be great to see James Gandolfini back and THN’s massive favourite Tom Hardy up on screen together for what’s sure to be an intense, and surely impressive drama. THE DROP also stars Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts, James Frecheville and Jeremy Bobb, it opens in the UK on 14th November and in North America on 19th September.
Here are those first shots:
We’ll bring you more news and a trailer for THE DROP when it’s released! Check out more from the director Roskam on the casting choices over on USAToday.
