John Green’s ‘Paper Towns’ Coming To The Big Screen!

Paper Towns

With the success of TWILIGHT, THE HUNGER GAMES and now DIVERGENT, you could say that Young Adult novel-to-screen adaptations are having a bit of a moment. Not wanting to break this pattern, this summer sees the release of THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, based on John Green’s best-seller, a personal favourite of mine and of many young adults around the world. With a fan base already established, the film is guaranteed to be a success, so it makes sense for studios to move on to some of Green’s other material…which is exactly what Fox 2000 have done!

News has surfaced that the company have acquired the rights to Green’s 2008 novel and plan to bring back a large portion of the production team behind THE FAULT… including writers Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, and Nat Wolff, who stars as Isaac. Wolff will take on the leading role of Quentin, who – as a young boy, along with his neighbour Margo – finds a dead body. This devastating event brings the pair together as kids, but like most friendships it peters out. However, the elusive Margo reappears in Quentin’s life, only to lead him on a treasure hunt to find her again, taking Quentin and his friends on an epic cross-country road trip.

Although I love THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, I think I like PAPER TOWNS just a little bit more. As an avid reader and book devourer, Green’s novels are easy to read and stay with you for a long, long time. They’ve also managed to light the reading spark in several of my friends, helping us bond over the written word (maybe we’ll go on an equally epic road trip someday?). But my biggest question for PAPER TOWNS is this: where are they going to acquire hundreds of black Santa statuettes?!

In the meantime, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS will arrive in US cinemas from 6th June 2014, with the UK following from 20th June.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
