Patton Oswalt Joins Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’

Comedian and actor Patton Oswalt, best known for his work in films such as BIG FAN (2009),YOUNG ADULT (2011),and THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY (2013),  as well as voicing the star of Pixar’s RATATOUILLE (2007), is set to guest star on a brand new episode of Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D later this season.

Oswalt plays a character from the comics – Agent Eric Koenig – a character who debuted in 1966 as a member of Nick Fury’s World War II battalion. Clearly there’s to be some rejigging to be done here on the writers part, but it will be interesting to see what Oswalt’s character will bring to the show.

This guest appearance marks a first for Oswalt – he’s previously worked for DC Comics as a regular guest performer for animated fare such as BATMAN BEYOND and THE BATMAN, as well as writing a short Justice League comic in  2003, so AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D marks his first foray into the Marvel universe. Here’s the first official look:

From an early age, Matt Dennis dreamt of one day becoming a Power Ranger. Having achieved that dream back in the noughties, he’s now turned his hand to journalism and broadcasting. Matt can often be found in front of a TV screen, watching his current favourite shows such as DOCTOR WHO, GAME OF THRONES, SHERLOCK, DAREDEVIL, and THE WALKING DEAD, though he’s partial to a bit of vintage TV from yesteryear. Matt also co-presents the Geek Cubed podcast, which you can download from iTunes. It’s quite nice.
