Disney’s retelling of their popular animated film SLEEPING BEAUTY from the villain’s perspective is almost upon us. MALEFICENT sees Angelina Jolie as the titular villain, who may be a bit more sympathetic than her animated cohort would suggest. Darker retellings of popular stories is in at the moment, with SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, and ALICE IN WONDERLAND, having really hit the box-office hard, and with Jolie’s star power, Maleficent could be set to do the same.
These latest posters show Jolie in all her glory, with the first being a simple character poster, while the second adds a spot of magic which echoes the animated film. Both are quite striking, but the second one even more so as it pairs Jolie’s beauty with a bit more colour and whimsy.
MALEFICENT is released 30th May and stars Angelina Jolie, Juno Temple, Elle Fanning, Miranda Richardson, Hannah New, Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, and Peter Capaldi.
