Last year brought us a biopic revolving around the life of Steve Jobs, the aptly title JOBS, starring Ashton Kutcher and while that film received mixed reviews at best, it looks like Hollywood isn’t quite done with the Apple founder just yet as a new higher brow version is in pre-production based on a bold script by Oscar winner, Aaron Sorkin (THE SOCIAL NETWORK, THE NEWSROOM, THE WEST WING). The reason why the script could be considered bold is, as earlier reported, that it only includes three scenes playing out in real time, each scene being around 30 minutes long and revolving around a product launch.
This sort of difficult project would require a director of some pedigree to tackle it, and it looks like Sony may have found him as the dream team behind THE SOCIAL NETWORK Sorkin, producer Scott Rudin & director David Fincher is set to join forces once more. It must be stressed that Fincher at this point only is in early talks for the project, however it is an enticing prospect if it indeed pans out. THE SOCIAL NETWORK was one of my favourite films of 2010, and if anyone can make people talking in a room exciting, it is Sorkin & Fincher.
David Fincher is currently making the finishing touches on GONE GIRL starring Ben Affleck & Rosamund Pike. We will of course update you on any developments here on this site, but let us know what you think in the comments below.
