Thailand’s favourite warrior hero Tony Jaa is back punching and kicking things (and people) in Prachya Pinkaew’s THE PROTECTOR 2.
The story follows animal lover Kham (Tony Jaa), who refuses to sell his war elephant to a dodgy gang (led by the Wu-Tang’s RZA), is framed for his boss’ murder and, to top it all off, has his beloved heffalump abducted. THE PROTECTOR 2 or TOM YUM GOONG 2 has already opened in Thailand and is now heading stateside.
It places director Pinkaew together with Tony Jaa once more. These two have already teamed up on 2005’s THE PROTECTOR and Jaa’s breakout film ONG BAK. You can watch the high action trailer below (sadly, no sign of elephants).
THE PROTECTOR 2 is released in the US May 2nd. No news on a UK date yet.

Claire Joanne Huxham comes from the south-west, where the cider flows free and the air smells of manure. She teaches A-level English by day and fights crime by night. When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
