‘Supernatural’ Spin-Off Casts Its Two Leads

Supernatural Spin-Off

SUPERNATURAL is the CW’s longest running show at the moment, with its ninth season currently continuing the strong ratings and high critical praise it has enjoyed since it began back in 2005. Earlier this week it was also announced that the networks flagship drama had been renewed for a milestone tenth season due to begin this October.

On top of that fans have known for a little while now that a spin-off is also planned for later this year titled SUPERNATURAL: TRIBES, which will take the monster hunting action to the city of Chicago. SUPERNATURAL: TRIBES will reportedly revolve around monster families that run the criminal underworld of Chicago, before being tracked down by a new hunter in the hopes of ridding the city of them once and for all. Now the two faces that will lead the brand new spin-off have been cast in the form of Nathaniel Buzolic (pictured left) and Lucien Laviscount (pictured right). Buzolic has been seen previously in both the CW’s VAMPIRE DIARIES and subsequent spin-off THE ORIGINALS. The Australian actor will play a shapeshifter and former member of a powerful controlling monster family within Chicago, before leaving that life behind and living as a human.

English actor Lucien Laviscount, however, is a newcomer and has featured in episodes of GRANGE HILL and SKINS prior to his casting in TRIBES. Laviscount will play a former police academy trainee that has become a hunter in order to avenge the death of his fiancée who is killed by one of the cities monster families. The CW is no doubt hoping to replicate the immense success of its VAMPIRE DIARIES spin-off THE ORIGINALS with this new urban drama. The show will receive a back-door pilot in the final quarter of SUPERNATURAL’s current season to introduce the characters before they begin their own adventures later this year. Lets just hope that the two leads can match the chemistry of Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, to hopefully mirror its parent show in terms of quality and compelling characters.
