Bret Easton Ellis Talks ‘Yeezus’ Project With Kanye West

It seems like a collaboration made in heaven doesn’t it? Author of such classics like LESS THAN ZERO and AMERICAN PYSCHO Bret Easton Ellis has talked more about being the screenwriter in a new project based on the Kayne West album Yeezus.

While in true Bret Easton Ellis fashion he did not reveal much on the project, he talked about how the rapper got in contact with him to write the project – something he was a little sceptical to do:

It’s in Kanye-land and that’s subject to a whole other timeframe. He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to Yeezus. It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He’d given me an advance copy and I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So fuck it, I said yes. And that’s how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.

Ellis also confirmed in the interview that he is in the planning stages of a project based on the Manson murders, but he says it is more focused on the year leading up to the events.

Are you excited for a possible Kayne/Bret film in the future? If THE CANYONS is anything to go by…
