It looks like America might be jumping on the ‘British TV Remake’ again, as HBO has ordered a remake of Channel 4’s Utopia. The series, which was created and written by Dennis Kelly, originally starred Fiona O’Shaughnessy, Alexandra Roach and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.
In case you missed the incredible series, it follows a group of die-hard fans of an iconic graphic novel who are suddenly launched on a chase as they discover the author has secretly written a sequel. But they soon discover the unreleased manuscript has more to it, and conspiracies and shocking plot twists are revealed.
HBO are teaming up with GONE GIRL duo David Fincher and Gillian Flynn to produce the series, with Flynn writing the script and Fincher directing. It is unclear when the show will be released at this stage (considering Fincher and Flynn are still working on GONE GIRL)
The remake of Utopia joins the queue of other British shows getting the American reboot – the main shows being the Broadchurch remake Gracepoint and a remake of Jack Whitehall’s Bad Education, which will have the title An American Education.
