Hugh Jackman To Host 2014 Tony Awards

Hugh Jackman

Theatre lovers it is that time of the year again when we get the Tony award host announcement, and surprisingly it is not Neil Patrick Harris! It is other multiple time host and star of the big screen Hugh Jackman.

Jackman will host The 68th Annual Tony Awards, returning to host the prestigious award show for the fourth time. He was even nominated for an Emmy for his hosting duties in 2004. Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events at CBS Entertainment said this about Jackman’s return:

“We are thrilled to have Hugh Jackman return to host the Tony Awards. Hugh is the ultimate performer – actor, singer and dancer – he does it all, second to none.  He is a consummate entertainer and the one you want out there hosting your live television event.”

The WOLVERINE star has had a thriving theatre career, winning a Tony award himself for the 2003 Broadway version of  The Boy From Oz. He also starred as Jean ValJean in Tom Hooper’s film adaptation of LES MISÉRABLES.

As huge Tony lovers ourselves, we know this is going to go down a treat!

Hugh Jackman is a big part of the Broadway community! Great to see him back hosting the TONYs! He will also be back treading the boards in the Jez Butterworth play THE RIVER this coming season.
