What happens when you mix the world of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films with the IRON MAN franchise? You get quite the impressive cast, as seen in Wally Pfister’s directorial debut TRANSCENDENCE. Pfister has been Nolan’s loyal cinematographer since 2002’s INSOMNIA, but rather than join Nolan for the upcoming INTERSTELLAR he is trying his hand at his own science-fiction tale. TRANSCENDENCE stars Johnny Depp as a scientist who leads the way in artificial intelligence. After a number of attacks on his computer systems and an assassination attempt, his colleagues decide to upload his brain into the AI system. With an impressive cast, strong themes of science and responsibility, as well as some heavy action sequences, the film looks great. However, is the studio handing over too many secrets?
TRANSCENDENCE is released inthe US on the 18th April and in the UK on the 25th April. It stars Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Cliften Collins Jr., and Cole Hauser.
