Seth Gordon To Direct Video Adaptation ‘Uncharted’

January 29th, 2011 @ 19:11:28

Seth Gordon, who enjoyed great success a couple of years ago with the superb comedy HORRIBLE BOSSES, has signed on the dotted line to direct a feature adaptation of the hit video game UNCHARTED. The film is currently in-development over at Sony Pictures with David Guggenheim (SAFE HOUSE) the last person to tinker with the script.

For those unaware with the third-person Playstation game, here’s a little plot synopsis:

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the first in the series, combines action-adventure and platform elements with a third-person perspective to chart the journey of protagonist Nathan Drake, supposed descendant of the explorer Sir Francis Drake, as he seeks the lost treasure of El Dorado in South America with the help of journalist Elena Fisher and mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan, though they are pursued relentlessly by both pirates led by Eddy Raja and later on by a group of mercenaries led by Gabriel Roman and Atoq Navarro, the former whom Sully is indebted to. The film will be quite a departure for Gordon (his last film was IDENTITY THIEF), but he is the man behind the documentary KING OF KONG from a few years back, so he’s got a slight video game background.

It seems that video game adaptations are back in vogue in Hollywood with the likes of NEED FOR SPEED due in cinemas in a couple of weeks and ASSASSIN’S CREED due in 2015.
