Female Dr Doom Rumoured For ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot

Fantastic Four.

In news that is surely set to anger hardcore FANTASTIC FOUR fans even more than the casting of Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that the villain for Josh Trank’s reboot will be Dr. Doom (not surprising) – but that he might be a she (more surprising).

It sounds like the studio will probably go for a big name for its villain, in contrast to the latest casting news, which has it that Trank is currently screen testing several up-and-coming faces for its core crew. THAT AWKWARD MOMENT’s Miles Teller is in line for Mr. Fantastic, while Kate Mara (HOUSE OF CARDS) and Emmy Rossum (THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW) have both tested for Sue Storm.

Meanwhile, Christian Cooke has also tested for the role of Ben Grimm (aka The Thing). Whoever Trank goes with, they’ll join Jordan as The Human Torch – a race-switching role which, while providing a fresh twist on the series, has already upset fantastic fanboys the internet over. Equally, gender-switching the classic Fantastic Four villain of Dr. Doom sounds like an exciting prospect – but one that will probably upset a fair few people.

Sources say this isn’t the end of the casting process, but at least this production is a bit more open, which makes a nice change considering the secrecy surrounding DC’s BATMAN VS SUPERMAN project. Would you be happy to see Dr. Doom played by a woman? Let us know in the comments below.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR is set for release on 19th June, 2015.
