Ben Affleck has received a lot of negative fan reaction concerning his casting as Batman in the upcoming untitled BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN project. It’s probably a mixture of love for Nolan’s series as well as memories of Affleck as DAREDEVIL, and even those looking forward to Affleck’s take, such as myself, may be deterred due to lacklustre performances in films such as the upcoming Home Entertainment release of RUNNER RUNNER. Still, nothing’s going to bring Mr. Garner down, as he recently gave some information to the guys at Playboy magazine:
When they asked if I would be Batman, I told them I didn’t see myself in the role and I was going to have to beg off. They said I’d fit well into how they were going to approach the character and asked me to look at what the writer-director, Zack Snyder, was doing. The stuff was incredible…..It was a unique take on Batman that was still consistent with the mythology. It made me excited. All of a sudden I had a reading of the character. When people see it, it will make more sense than it does now or even than it did to me initially.
As previously theorised, Affleck’s Batman will also be older and wiser:
I don’t want to give away too much, but the idea for the new Batman is to redefine him in a way that doesn’t compete with the Bale and Chris Nolan Batman but still exists within the Batman canon. It will be an older and wiser version, particularly as he relates to Henry Cavill’s Superman character.
And the much attacked Affleck also responded rather humorously to the negative fan reaction on the internet:
I understand I’m at a disadvantage with the internet. If I thought the result would be another Daredevil, I’d be out there picketing myself. [laughs] Why would I make the movie if I didn’t think it was going to be good and that I could be good in it?
The money?
Fingers will remain crossed for this project, as the inclusion of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman has been met with even more criticism, and it currently just feels far too different to MAN OF STEEL. But maybe this is just what Warner Bros. need, a shot in the arm to boost their confidence in their own properties.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.

go through the DCAU (Batman:TAS, Justice League (Unlimited) and Batman Beyond) to know the character more (mainly the voice). he does that, he knows how to portray Batman properly. though “Batman vs. Superman” was a stupid idea in the first place
