Guy Ritchie To Direct The First Of A 6-Movie ‘King Arthur’ Franchise?

Guy Ritchie

Guy Ritchie is currently in production on the massive big-screen adaptation of the TV show THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., but it looks like he’s already setting his sights on something even bigger next. The LOCK, STOCK and SNATCH helmer is looking to at least helm the first in a proposed series of six films over at Warner Brothers, the studio where he found huge success with the SHERLOCK HOLMES films.

The first film is written by Joby Harold (AWAKE), and revolves around the legend of English knight KING ARTHUR, a character that has featured in many movies, most recently in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced film of 2004 starring Clive Owen as the title character. Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is producing the new film alongside Ritchie’s partner Lionel Wigram.

Warners have been wanting to get an ‘Arthur’ project off the ground for many years, and even the likes of Kit Harington, Colin Farrell and Joel Kinnaman have been attached to star in the main role over that time. A film titled ARTHUR AND LANCELOT was in the pipeline, but the studio cancelled the planned project following spiralling production costs.

So, who would you like to see cast as Arthur in a Guy Ritchie helmed movie?
