With a furious director officially claiming his biopic GRACE OF MONACO has been re-edited into a “pile of shit” after it was picked up by The Weinstein Company, it’s a wonder if their version will be worth watching. We then heard earlier last week that the film had been removed from its slated March release after being originally lined up for November 2013. Now it’s set to open this year’s Cannes Film Festival! A rocky road indeed but a prestigious premiere could see it shine.
It will be interesting to see if they’ll show director Olivier Dehan’s original cut of the events of iconic Hollywood actress Grace Kelly’s marriage to Monaco’s Prince Rainier III during his political dispute with France’s Charles De Gaulle and a looming French invasion of Monaco in the early 1960s; or, if they’re willing to ride through the bad press. Whatever the decision, and Dehan has promised to fight to see his vision, GRACE OF MONACO will finally see a public cinema screen on the 14th May (we hope).
In meantime, check out a tearful Nicole Kidman as the title character in the first international poster. You can find the first teaser trailer HERE if you missed it.
GRACE OF MONACO co-stars Tim Roth, Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Paz Vega and Derek Jacobi.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
