JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT might not be released in the UK until Friday but director Kenneth Branagh is well underway on his next project, CINDERELLA. The film, currently in post production, stars Lily James (Downton Abbey) as the girl who goes from rags to riches, alongside Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden as her Charming Prince, with support from Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett and Ben Chaplin.

As with most fairy-tales, the story of Cinderella is one that has had countless incarnations so why should we be excited by this new film? Well THN had to chance to sit down with the film’s producer David Baddon to talk about JACK RYAN, and thought we’d try and get his view. Here’s what he had to say:

I can’t tell you everything about the film, but it’s a live action, sort of classic re-telling of the classical animated story. It has more depth, more character, more emotion. It’s sumptuous to look at, it’s a fantastic cast and incredible performances, and Ken directed it. Need I say more?

So by animated story could he be referring to Disney’s classic film? A deeper, more character and emotion driven take would suit Branagh and his Shakespearean background.

CINDERELLA is set for a 2015 release.
