Fans of Zack Snyder’s visually stunning and bloody crowd pleaser 300 are sure to want to see a story told from the perspective of another bunch of sword-swinging characters. Side-sequel 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE takes place around the same time as the previous film but sees most of the action transferred to the high seas. This time we follow Greek general Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) as his own band of warriors take on the might of hulking God-like Xerxes (played by the returning Rodrigo Santoro) and his beautiful, yet ruthless, Persian Navy commander Artemisia (Eva Green).
Check out the first television spot from the film directed by Noam Murro, which features some brief new footage.
300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE is released in cinemas 7th March 2014 and stars Eva Green, Sullivan Stapleton, Rodrigo Santoro, Jack O’Connell, Hans Matheson, Lena Headey, David Wenham, Igal Naor, Callan Mulvey and Andrew Tiernan.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
