World Wide Web – Two New International Spidey Posters

With its fan-favourite villains, a blue Jamie Foxx and more web than you can shake one of these bad boys at (not least because the director is Marc Webb), THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is getting a lot of people excited. Sony even pulled off a spideriffic (that’s a word I made up) stunt in Times Square, NY as part of the New Year celebration, accompanied by the reveal of some new footage of Foxx’s electron-projecting Electro being a certified bad-ass.

Following a pair of posters released earlier this month, two new international posters have been revealed for the film and, well, they’re quite shocking.

Shocking. Because of Electro. Yes?

The first poster shows our friendly neighborhood friend leaping through some bolts of lighting, one worryingly near his groin (I wonder if Spidey wears electrically insulated pants? If not, he really should). The tagline is ‘His greatest battle begins’ which, considering this will only be his second battle, is not really saying much when you think that his first was against a nerdy crocodile with questionable motives (you want to turn the entire population into lizards because…?).

The second poster shows the electric man himself, accompanied by the same backdrop and lightning image as the first for some reason that is most probably laziness (you thought we wouldn’t notice but I did!). The tagline on this one is ‘Enemies will unite’ which, as well as being unbelievably generic, most likely refers to the alliance of enemies in the film, who could potentially turn out to be The Sinister Six.

Aside from the sneaky copy and paste tactic, the posters are pretty cool, if a little unremarkable. Ok, very unremarkable. Still, check them out:

Oh, and if you thought the pun in the article title was clever, thank you.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Paul Giamatti and Dane DeHaan. It swings into cinemas on 2nd May this year.
