It’s already a fantastic event but now it’s got even better with the announcement that modern legends of film and film-making Richard Dreyfuss and Terry Gilliam are set to attend the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival in February.

Both guests will attend screenings at the festival and will be honoured with a Volta Award, an award created by the festival to celebrate individuals who have made a significant contribution to the world of film.  The awards are named after the Volta Picture Theatre, Ireland’s first dedicated cinema, established by James Joyce. The announcement of these high-profile guests continues the remarkable legacy of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival of securing the biggest names in international cinema talent to attend the festival each year.

The festival runs at venues throughout Dublin from February 13th – 23rd 2014. The jam-packed lineup for the full festival programme will be announced on January 20th, with over 130 films and themed strands, along with a host of special guests.

Richard Dreyfuss will attend the festival for a screening of his latest film, CAS & DYLAN. He’s set to participate in a Q&A session following the massively popular Jameson Cult Film Club screening of one of his most famous films, JAWS, which will be a must-attend event for film lovers. CAS & DYLAN, Dreyfuss’ latest film, is directed by Jason Priestley and features Dreyfuss as a dying doctor, determined to die on his own terms, who inadvertently ends up on the lam with a 22 year old tearaway.

Terry Gilliam is one of the most eclectic and renowned filmmakers of his generation, with his groundbreaking feature film BRAZIL frequently being mentioned in top ten lists – it was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay, co-written by Gilliam. The filmmaker will attend the Festival for a screening of his latest film, THE ZERO THEOREM, starring Christoph Waltz, Mélanie Thierry and David Thewlis. The film tells of a reclusive computer genius who is working on a theorem to discover the meaning of life.

The twelfth Jameson Dublin International Film Festival will open with the Irish premiere of John Michael McDonagh’s CALVARY. The festival annually highlights Dublin as the city of ‘Film in February’ and consistently attracts the biggest names in world cinema to the event. A key annual event in Dublin’s cultural calendar, the festival continues to build a respected international reputation among industry and cinemagoers alike, creating a unique festival atmosphere for all audiences.
